Geometry and arts (Pablo Picasso)

Geometry and arts have always been linked in some way. Where there is art, there is any kind of geometry for sure. Thus, a good way to implement geometry in a classroom could be through art.

Pablo Picasso and the geometry
Indeed, an interesting way to learn art and geometry at a time could be working with Picasso and its cubism. The cubism is an artistic movement which is characterized for representing the main parts of a body with geometric figures like triangles, rectangles, circles… Picasso uses the non-Euclidean geometry and the fourth dimension. (Galindo,2015).

Thus, there a loads of activities that can be carried out in a classroom learning geometry thanks to picasso´s cubism. On of them is making portraits simulating the cubism. In this activity, students have to work with a pair, and they have to draw a portrait of their mate with just geometric figures, as Picasso used to do.

On the other hand, as cubism can be taught in all the levels, I found a funny video which could be useful in order to introduce the cubism in the first levels, as this can be quite tough to explain.
The video explains in a very simple way how Picasso used geometry figures to make art.
